CD_STOP V1.1
--------------

!This program is cardware, PLEASE send me postcard!
Note
----
This program can be freely distributed, hell, you can even bung it
a magazine cover if you want. However, all material supplied (this document
and the main program) must remain together and must not be edited in any way
unless permission is granted by the Author (me :). I can not be held
responsible for any loss of data this program may cause (It shouldn't!). Ok
on with the show..
Introduction
------------
The CD32's appearance leaves a lot to be desired, but one of its
major drawbacks is the CD lid. If you have an expanded CD32 (like myself)
you will know that in order to change disks you must lift the lid and allow
the cd to scrape to a halt. Nice :(. So I decided to do something about it.
On went Devpac 3, tap, tap, tap went I, and fifteen minutes latter CD_STOP
was finished. CD_Stop does exactly as the name suggests and stops the CD
motor in order for you to take out a CD and insert another. Simple! :)
Installation
------------
CD_Stop can be executed from Workbench or from a Cli.
Workbench: Double click on the (bad) icon :).
CLI/SHELL: Enter: "CD_Stop" (No parameters need).
I found it best to place the CD_Stop program on my hard disk and
append the program name to the tool menu using 'Appmenu' or something
similar. This way I can simply access the menu bar at the top and select
it to stop the drive (like ejecting a Mac disk!).
Bugs and Additions
------------------
Hmm, the program seems to run fine its been sitting on my
Workbench for months. One point to note: If you have CD audio playing (via
the CDTV player or something) and you select CD_Stop, the CD will not stop
immediately but will wait until the CD audio has been halted.
If you find any bugs let me know by using my contact address
(below). If you would like to see additional features added also let me
know.
CD32 Lid Reset
--------------
CD32 owners please note that if the machine is started by booting
up a CD, any attempt to change the CD by hand (or by CD_Stop) will reset the
machine. It's a little strange but booting from floppy, harddisk or any
other valid amiga device will counteract this. In the next version I hope
to have an option to disable this reset/booting problem.
